Bring Me the Head of Dino Dan

...somebody needs to take a look in there.

Every parent with small children probably harbors a certain amount of resentment towards the crap they're forced to watch with their kids.

I can't be the only one that's tried to report Dora and Diego to INS...or follows the Fresh Beat Band on Twitter hoping that today's the day they announce they're splitting up...or fantasized about slipping onto the set of Blue's Clues and spiking Steve's coffee with amphetamines...can I?

Of course, they're not all bad. My sister loves the Backyardagins and I'll probably keep watching Jack's Big Music Show long after the Boy has given up on it.

Good or bad, they all have their issues. Oswald is an acid-trip through a zoo in West Hollywood...those eggs aren't brothers. Speaking of drugs...have you seen Yo Gaba Gaba?

There's one though that has 'em all beat...Dino Dan.

Dino Dan is about a mentally disturbed kid that see's dinosaurs all the time, and everywhere. He has a psychotic obsession with dinosaurs that was certainly brought on when his paleontologist father abandoned the family. His Momma has concocted this cock-eyed story that he's away at a conference...a conference in Barbados with his last T.A. I guess she's done this for two reasons...one she's still holding out hope he'll come back...two, so Dan doesn't rightly blame himself for running his father off.

If this kid was any more annoying he'd be a hemorrhoid. All day long he berates people...his friends, his teachers, his little brother...with facts and anecdotes about whatever dinosaur he's seen that day on the playground, in the garage, behind the toilet. Everybody stops whatever they're doing and hangs on his every word...as if they actually care...or, more likely, they're afraid for their lives. Dan's not the kinda kid you want having bad memories of you when he becomes a teenager and discovers FPS video games.

Obviously...obviously Dan is a kid desperate to have some connection with his absent father. One can only shudder to imagine where all this is headed after he reaches puberty. If you want me to watch, show me the scenes of Dan's mother meeting with the school psychologist...show me the conversations between Dan's buddies and their parents about why he can't sleep over...show me his pharmacist feverishly at work.

All of this is completely lost on the Boy and all he sees is dinosaurs.

"I'na watch another Dino Dan...Dino Dan...Dino Dan...I'na watch Dino Dan."

What can I say to 'im...but, the truth is I'd rather have a monkey hammer thumb tacks into my forehead with a 2x4 than watch five more minutes of that crap.

  1. You really suck now! I can let the whole cold grits episode go but I CANNOT have people out there thinking I like those horrid Backyardigans!!

I am this close to pulling the plug on your chocolate cake!

  2. Man, it's good to know that I'm not the only one that feels Dino Dan is freak. In reality he would be the booger eating kid that mumbles to himself while the popular kids shoot spitballs at him.

Instead everyone listens as he describes the dinosaur that's 10 feet away that no one else has a chance of seeing. Yay!

My daughter doesn't pay too much attention to this show. She'd rather laugh at Sponge Bob's antics then watch Dino boy try to trap a pesky whatsasaurus using a protractor, compound bow, bowling ball, and washing machine tub. Ughhh..

  3. You are not alone..in fact me and you are not alone.

I'm gonna post some of the word searches that have landed web surfers on this post...we aren't the only two that know what a little freak this kid is.

  4. I must say I TOTALLY agree with this blog!! Dino Dan is a horrible show, he annoys the hell out of me, he needs a psychological evaluation, his mother is not helping matters by pacifiying his antics and OMG his voice even annoys me. When he names the dinosaurs he sounds so smug and how in the hell does a dinosaur fit into EVERYTHING happening in his tiny world?? He needs help, his mother does too and I want this show to end....UGGGHHH!!!

  5. its the same darn 3-4 dinosaurs, least thats how it appears to me. I do not understand how he "learns" facts about dinosaurs, through his "expirements" on animals WHO ARE NOT REALLY THERE!?!?! I can suspend belief in shows that exist wholly within fiction, Yo Gabba Gabba, Oswald, etc etc. But all I see when I watch Dino Dan, is a kid with extreme psychological problems, and extended adult community who don't seem to want to deal with his problem. AND IT DRIVES ME INSANE THAT MY SON LOVES IT.

  11. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about this show. I like to think that Dan is already in psychiatric care, and that the shows are elaborate fantasies he visualizes in his padded cell. This makes the show somewhat bearable.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I'm gonna try that out to night...see if it works.

    Thanks.

  13. I thought my husband and I were the only people who had come to the conclusion that Dan is delusional and should be on medication.

The show is consistent in showing that Dan is the only one to see and interact with the dinosaurs--with one exception. His dog, Doug the Pug, seems to be able to see them, too. Which makes me wonder if the delusions extend not just to the dinosaurs, but also to his entire reality. His delusion is much more complicated than just seeing and hearing dinosaurs around every corner--he also sees the squirrel his dog is chasing as a whatsasaurus instead of a boring, realistic rodent. And the way the kids at school act like they believe him drives me nuts--maybe that is part of his delusion as well. Maybe they actually beat him up during recess and he only imagines that they love him.

The only saving grace is the art teacher who is totally over the top and wacky, and who I would have loved to have as an art teacher when I was a kid. The rest of the show works my last nerve.

And Trek. What the hell kind of name is that?

  14. Mrs. Barbara...you and your husband are not alone...and now you have a place where you can come and do your hilarious venting.

Man I'd love to see that pudgy kid sit on him while that preppy girl kicks him in the ribs.

  15. LOL! My girls love the show but I can't stand it. I always think, oh, no, the schizophrenic boy is next! I try to understand what the show is about, whether it's fantasies or what but it's annoying as hell that no one see anything but him. He clearly needs medication.

  18. its a childrens show... and someone mentioned above that they would rather their child watch an animated sponge that lives in a pineapple that talks all kinds of nonsense and drives boats with a starfish, or whatever.... than a show that produces actual factual knowledge about dinosaurs... interesting that you claim that this show is bad for your child.. but allow your child to watch brainless babble such as spongebob that teaches absolutely nothing.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I will agree the show or most shows have no meaning to adults because we know how the world turns. Children do not see things in that light unless parents teach them. My daughter loves this show and zoombafu and is very knowledgeable about animals and reptiles. Even at age three she knows more then what a child at age 7 knows about stuff. Despite what some parents think should be happy your child is interested in learning some facts, and the producers of the show think outside the box because this what attracts children. However parents do not hold the imagination kids have instead they go this show is delusional, its about gay puppets, or drug induced chars. Seriously grow up as I'm sure all kids are thinking the same thing...right...

      Delete
    2. How would growing up help? Evidently, by your own reasoning, you have to have a child's mind to get.

The show is asinine. The Boy likes it cause it's got animated dinosaurs in it (thankfully his interest is waning). He watches it. I hate it...it's twaddle.

      The Kid is a creep.

  19. simply allowing children to revert back to their imaginations, rather than having to play video games, etc... I think the person who said they wanted a "childs head" references into killing him may need to be the one medicated... just sayin.

  21. I must agree with you on this. The kid is clearly a freak in need of a padded room and custom fit straitjacket. If it didn't entertain the kids I'd change it in a heartbeat.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm kind of on both sides of the fence with this.On one hand I find that the facts Dan provides about the dinos is good for teaching our kids, however,on the other hand I HATE that child! He is so annoying.

I saw that someone left a comment about Dan running "experiments" to find his "facts".Every time he does an "experiment" I think the same thing! "How is he running an experiment on a dinosaur that doesn't even exist?!" which in a way could ALSO teach our kids that it's ok to just pretend they know everything as long as they run "experiments".

I honestly feel like boycotting this show. There are plenty of other shows that educate and at the same time doesn't delude our children!

    ReplyDelete
  23. No kiddin'.

The point about "experiments" or "for science" being an excuse for his shenanigans is a good one...'cause he's not only running imaginary experiments but, he gets pretty rude about it sometimes.

    Boycott. Boycott. Boycott.

    :)

  24. Thank you for having this blog. I wanted to make sure I wasn't alone on this one. It just happens to be on when my kids are mindlessly watching Nick jr, waiting for Dora or something like that. Being a psychologist, I've been watching to see if I can figure out what's going on. He is definitely hallucinating, but I can't tell if it's a shared hallucination. It so frustrates me that everyone plays into it.
Plus, it's simply not realistic that the obviously popular girls are even acknowledging the existence of the nerdy fat kid and the schizophrenic.
I try to look on the positive side that it promotes scientific inquiry and experimentation. I just wish that the show would commit to it one way or another. Either make so that it is acknowledges that dinos do exist in the present world or this is completely in his imagination. They stratle the line too much. (people don't see the dinosaurs themselves, but will respond to something the animal DOES, which would be impossible if it doesn't actually exist)

Ps: don't diss Fresh Beat Band. Kiki is hot. Just saying.

Boy's out of his mind and it's catching. People do react as if they've seen the dinosaurs.

I stand by my position...they're all scared of him.

  26. Taking the show on a unit by unit basis, I believe that Dino Dan is just horrible. Not only is it trying to teach children things that are beyond their comprehension, it is also teaching them to believe in their delusions. Dan believes in his delusion so strongly, he will damage school and other property to reinforce it. in one episode, Dan uses a gym mat to "test" what type or dinosaur damaged a bus. Every time a "dinosaur" appears, Dan has conveniently sent his friend out of visual range. She comes back three times to see that while she was gone, a "dinosaur" has left its mark on the mat. And she believes every word Dan says.

OK, fine; She is a child. But the adults are just as bad. Again, on a unit by unit basis, the "adults" have no authority and are inept in their care of the children. Teachers are consistently late and locking their students out of their classroom. There is no response to Dan leaving the classroom, and going OUTSIDE. No teachers, aides, principals, or even passers by ever see, report or rectify this. In my area, if a child is out of their classroom, and gets outside, the school goes into lockdown and the police are called. And Dan's mother never disciplines him for taking things without asking; usually his "experiments" wreck the items he acquired surreptitiously.

So, ignoring the repeated delusions and paraphrenia, the show Dino Dan teaches our children that there will be no repercussions for any of their inappropriate actions. I can understand trying to prove or disprove things (I did this a child), but teaching "right from wrong" is a better lesson than understanding the scientific method.

  27. Our numbers continue to grow.

Welcome Matthew...I think your posts supports the idea that the entire thing is a figment of Dan's demented mind.

    Don't be a stranger.

  28. Dino Dan is based on the life of of Ryan Hofmann. He is (was) a kid whose father was schizophrenic and mother was a fairly stable person to put it nicely. Ryan insisted that his father worked in a dinosaur museum but he actually lived in the CAMH in-house program. It 's widely believed that his father had "predetermined schizophrenia" in which LSD and marijuana was the catalyst. He also was obsessed w/ dinosaurs and rambled on endlessly to Ryan (many believe meth was involved) about dinosaurs. Ryan too became obsessed and was much like the 'Dino Dan' character. He knew and incredible amount of facts and would spend much of classroom time talking about and diverting subjects into dinosaur conversations. Some thought he was autistic. His vast knowledge of dinosaurs was cute and impressive at first but eventually became a burden on his teachers and eventually he began hallucinating dinosaurs and was considered a "major disruption" in class. To make a long story short, Ryan was placed in institution in 1998 where he remains. His little brother is mentally healthy and lives with mother who is a contract security worker.

Ryan's knowledge of Dinosaurs became a triumph after teachers learned he was unstable....maybe because of guilt or sorrow. One teacher wrote a short story about him and somehow it fell into a producers hands. The rest is history.
Ryan's mother tried to sue for profits and settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. Due to Canadian law, little is disclosed about Ryan but his legacy lives on in Dino Dan.

I always wonder what goes through a person mind when they sit down and write up a children's show like this.

  34. I personally don't like Dino Dan. I find him annoying. My son could take him or leave him. The problem I have is that the show never refers to dinosaurs. They only refer to them as dinos. Which means the kids who are "learning" from this show are not learning the correct term. We have had to reinforce "dino-saur" with my son because he now believes those large animals are dinos because of watching that show. But I guess it's not anymore annoying that the myriad of kids shows that do not know the difference between "bring" and "take." I am forever correcting that mistake as well. And to Morgan above, we watch Wonder Pets. But the only reason we kept watching is because in the very first episode we saw, they sang this crazy song called "rubbin' the egg with my bum" My MIL & I cracked up. I couldn't help myself, I had to rewind and watch it over and over.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The only language problem I have is when I hear him say things like "you guyz" or "soda." Thing's he would never here around here.

I'm really in no position to be correcting anybody's grammar :)...I leave that to his Momma.

Is there any aspect of Dino! Dan that isn't irritating? If we were to gather up all the various complaints that have been registered on the blog post and make a list...I think we would find that every thing except the lighting as gotten up somebody's nose.

  38. Thanks for posting this. I can't stand this show, it annoys me like no other. First off, his nasally, know-it-all voice grates my ear drums. Then the completely unrealistic parts where the students eagerly listen to his every word are just as bad. Then of course, there are the secondary characters. As I saw in an earlier post, what kind of name is Trek? Then there's that fat kid in the classroom, who is supposed to fill the "weird but funny" role, but just ends up being even more annoying than Dino Dan himself. Let's not forget about the whole logic of the show itself. Dan is supposed to be imagining everything, yet in one episode his Mom is ran out of the attic by a flying dinosaur. Shit like that makes no sense. Then there are the constant times that Dan takes "pictures" but they always just happen to come out "blurry." Maybe they're just not really there, you little psycho.

I wish you showed this much displeasure towards Olivia. Dino Dan actually comes in second to that know-it-all, self-important, attention whoring brat.

  40. I am in heaven, I can't believe this place exists. I just happened to finish watching Dino Dan of course because my daughter watches it for whatever reason, but I must say....I understand people saying not letting your kid watch uninformative mind numbing garbage on television. But lets be serious....no one cares about dinosaurs..no one. Your child is gonna get no where in life knowing all these "facts" about dinosaurs. It's not gonna help them in anyway shape or form. At best they will turn into Dan himself chasing around things that aren't there. And just the idea that all the "facts have to come from this annoying kid is just tops. What kind of egg is this...of course it has to be a dinosaur egg as if that makes any sense....who knocked over the trash can....had to be a t-rex...someone drank the milk must of been a flufalopogus. I am absolutely amazed this show is on T.V. At east teach the kinds life lessons and things that are going to help them later in life that they "NEED" to learn. Dinosaurs from some snot nosed condescending kid, come on Nick Jr. you're better than that.

  49. I am equally annoyed with this show as I would not have ended up on this site otherwise. My son loves it. In fact, he has me DVR it since he missed it while we were on vacation so I've been spending all morning watching back to back recorded episodes. I had him try to explain to me what the hell is going on in this show (keep in mind my son is 5). He says it's in Dan's imagination and he is only one that sees them because his name is dino dan. He doesn't seem to be bothered by any of it and he loves learning about dinosaurs so I guess I will continue to let him watch.

BTW as to, what kind of name is Trek, it is the actual name of the kid that plays that character. I know that doesn't make it better but at least you can blame the parents of that small actor rather than the show.

As to other kids shows, my son seems to hate most the same ones I do so this is the only show that causes me pain. (except for max and ruby who clearly have no parents) I am a big weirdo and actually like shows like backyardigans, blues clues, wonder pets. Together we hate shows like whiney franklin and calliou .

Good to see I found other people who think this freak needs help. My daughter loves this show, but at 5, I do not believe she picks up on the fact that Dan is seeing dinosaurs in his head and getting beat up behind the school.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hello, hello.
Before the time for typing my thoughts, I never considered Dino Dan "annoying" -maybe because I use to respect everybody else's personalities.
As a beginning, I didn't pay attention to the show. "Another TV show about dinosaurs for kids" I thought. If I've been asked, I would have replied that the aim of Dino Dan was to stimulate scientific reasoning, experimentation, imagination... But after taking the time to read all the comments and think a little, I realized that the creators may have gone too far. The proof? That "time travel" my younger brother mentioned.
It's well known that doing a show about dinosaurs without dinosaurs is impossible but, doing it by taking a SERIOUS story and trying to adapt it for children resulted to be, after all, not a good idea.
With regard to the accusations of schizophrenia, delusions and obsession, well, it's true. I believe in what Chodaboy the psychologist wrote but, how many children will infer Dan's condition from what they see in the show?
If you ask me, I'm not in favour of a boycott -I'm not as angry as some of you. I don't see anything harmful in the show besides the almost useless facts about dinosaurs.
I do am in favour of bilingual comments (el español es mi lengua materna, while English is my second language), just as long people in general is able to understand.
Finally, it's been good for me reading other people's opinions and comparing them with mine. Now I'll look around the site and, who knows? You might find one more comment written by me.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Welcome to both of you.

    Bienvenidos a los dos.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I've read all the comment and one key note that I find everyone has failed to mention is the COLOR of the dinosaurs. I mean come on REALLY?? Bright yellows, purples and pinks. I understand that no one knows what they looked like way back when ,and that the show has some form of artistic freedom but, for me, one of the most glaring problems is the depiction what they look like. And furthermore, I seem to recall seeing an interview with some expert who basically steers the animators to make it look realistic. The guy needs to be fired and they need to hire someone who is more realistic!

I don't know maybe it's me being a prude but I personally would think dinosaurs would be of earth toned colors to blend in with their environment and hide from predators.

  60. I do not like this show either. I think for me it's the fact he sees the dinosaurs and no one else except the dog. I could go on and on about each episode that frustrated me but I won't. I was at a dinner party and all of the parents were talking about which kid shows they liked for their preschoolers. Dino Dan came up and I immediately expressed my hate for the show and was the minority of the bunch. Folks looked at me with the evil eye as if I was too hard on a "kids show". Thankfully I found this site that shares my dislike if the show. Whew good to know I am not a meanie. Dan has psychological problems for sure.

    Welcome to the party.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thank you thank you thank you!
There are 3 shows on NickJr that really annoy me: Dora, Diego and Dino Dan. Dora and Diego because they are too young to be galavanting across the globe without parental supervision, and Dino Dan because it just doesn't make sense! I think I could handle the show if no one ever saw any evidence of dinosaurs and this kid was just a troubled 12 year old, but we have a dog that sees the dinos, there's an episode where the mother is in the attic and comes running down because there's something flying in the attic, and we've seen a Dino attack a bus?!?!? So maybe Dan is not crazy? But then that suggests that this town in Canada is swarming with dinosaurs like T-Rexs at school, and there are no safety precautions? It's mind boogling how little sense this show makes!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Thank you thank you for bringing up the hilarious possibility that this town is actually overrun with dinosaurs and nobody's taken the proper precaution.

    Hahahaha

    Please make yourself at home..

  70. Looks like I'm also not alone in hating this stupid show. My niece is more a fan of dora but will watch dino dan because it's a kids show. First of all, I hate his annoying canadian accent. The ou is pronounced like ow not oo, stop butchering the language! Second, he is so pompous and smug that if I were in his class i'd enjoy kicking his ass every day. His delusions are not harmless either. How is he going to react in the real world when people stop believing his rantings? I also didn't know the inspiration for this show is currently in a nut house. Maybe that's where the producers of this show should be too. What will dan hallucinate about next, the Wendigo? Yeah, then he'll go all Jack Fiddler on his schoolmates. Unfortunately, it's not the only piece of crap from north of the border. Why are all these shows from canada? How do they raise kids up there? Does the government dictate what kids should learn? If this isn't proof that socialism sucks, I don't know what is.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Our official position on Dino Dan is well known. Our position on Socialism is that it does indeed suck...out loud. We too have questioned why so many of these shows come out of Canada but...we love our Canadian readers and figure that even if they have devised Dino Dan out of spite...surely it's payback for some crap sit com the US has lobbed over the border.

    Welcome Warhawk...please do hang around.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Dino Dan must have Asperger's Syndrome...no social skills, a singular focus. Oh, and he's annoying.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Speaking as someone with Aspergers, I will 100% agree with your diagnosis.
      My nitpicks with Dino Dan:
=Leading kid has literally ZERO charisma onscreen.
      =Makes dinosaurs boring.
=Somehow, I'm supposed to buy that he can get away with massive collateral damage in the name of imaginary science and people actually care about the dreck that pours out of his mouth.
      =Makes dinosaurs BORING.
=Seriously, his interest in dinosaurs is beyond obsessively creepy.
=How on Earth can someone make dinosaurs BORING?

But, hey, if people have managed to like this sad excuse for a kid's show, more power to them.

  73. "Asperger's" I think we've found a winner!

    Welcome anon.

  74. My daughter just loves dinosaurs. Everything isn't about you. You need to find whatever it is your child is into, and embrace it. That how people become successful, there parents helping them go the direction they have chosen. Just my 2 cents.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Warhawk, you should seek help. Socialism??? Canada??? Who is the delusional one? Wanna know 2 other shows that came from Canada? Care Bears, and Fraggle Rock. Probably the 2 shows that I would not be the person I am today had I not grew up watching them. This site just goes to show that there are a lot of people out there that didn't use protection, or are just horrible parents. oh well...

    ReplyDelete
  76. Getting a little push back finally.

I don't know, the boy wanted to take a pear he was eatin into the potty the other day...I did not support that decision either. I'm a terrible parent but I've never claimed otherwise.

He watches the show. I even pull it up for him on the dvr...if he asks politely but...the show is still dreadful.

I've never seen n episode of fragile rock (we didn't even have cable...much less hbo) or care bears ....maybe that's what's wrong with me.

Y'all hang around. Make you selves at home.

    ReplyDelete
  77. OK...I have so many things to say about Dino Dan and this discussion. Pros and Cons.

First of all, I am the mother of four boys and the oldest and the youngest have autism spectrum disorders. My oldest son is 13 with high functioning autism (it has been said he may have Aspergers Syndrome). My youngest is 2 with low functioning classic autism.

The youngest is just as OBSSESSED with Dino Dan as Dan is with the "Dinos". I have to DVR this show as a series and we watch it ALL DAY. NO LIE. So when you tell me how annoying it is and how it grates on your nerves...I GET IT.

I watched one episode of this show and being the mother of children on the autism spectrum, I immediately said to myself: "Self, this kid has Aspergers Syndrome". I did some research and there is article after article to support that claim.

Here is the problem I have with that. It is a very crappy depiction of Aspergers. My oldest son becomes overly fixated on things such as Pokemon, BMX Stunts, WWE Wrestling, and the list goes on and on. He will come and stand in front of us and give us a 20 minutes dissertation on the origin of Pokemon and how it has evolved and blah, blah, blah. We love him and we induldge him...a lot like Dan's mom does on the show. I am the queen of "Um...hmmm...honey, that's nice". But children with Autism and Aspergers who have obsessions and fixations don't bring it into every single conversation like they portray things on the show. My son can talk about other things, but when he talks about his interests he gets involved with it and carries on and on.

Now this is where it gets really sad...I have A-dar (I can spot a child with autism anywhere, anytime, any day). You can't live with children like this and not recognize it in other children. So, I definitely recognize that Dan is supposed to be on the autism spectrum. My oldest son has A-dar, too. He recognizes himself in others. He announces after watching a couple of episodes that Dan has Autism. I asked him why he thought that. He answered...he is obsessed and can't go 5 seconds without mentioning a dinosaur. Then he told me that he was offended that they would portray someone with an autism spectrum disorder in this manner. He said...that's not how people with autism act.

I think that really puts how ridiculous this show is into perspective...that even a child with autism thinks it is absurd.

Now...here is my negative comment. For all the comments here that spoke of children with problems being freaks and children who aren't socially accepted needing to be beat up by the preppy girl on the playground...shame on you. That is a terrible thing to say. I don't care if a child is a schizophrenic psychopath, they should never be verbally abused that way. Psychological disorders, neurological disorders, and autism spectrum disorders are very debilitating and these children should be supported, not chastised. Adults who think this way, spawn children with the same mindset and later turn into bullies.

This show turns my stomach. I agree with you that it is terrible, but let's just not be cruel about children with mental health issues. It is petty and useless.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Thanks for a thoughtful post Jessica. I really appreciate you being open with us about your own kids.

I think...or at least I hop, we have two trains of thought here...

One, Dan has some mental issues which, as you point out, aren't portrayed in a very careful or interesting way.

Two, he's just an obnoxious jerk who's not only tolerated but indulged. I think it's this Dan that people would like to see sat on by the fat kid...it's the phoniness of it as much anything.

Flimsy Cups would like to take this opportunity to officially voice our opposition to beating up kids with psychological, neurological or cognitive issues, etc.

Thanks again for the post Jessica and do stick around.

    ReplyDelete
  79. And don't beat up kids that can't spell.

  80. Well this blog makes me feel a little better...Dan is a Headcase...I haven't missed something in the premise of the program - alternative reality lol

  81. Glad we could be of service.

    Welcome to party.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I agree with most of the previous comments. (ex.Dan was just wearing a bike helmet while walking in his cardboard dinosaur.) My biggest problem however is that nick jr. shows the same 5 episodes all the time. That's enough to send anyone into dino dillusions.

    ReplyDelete
  83. This a good point...even the producers of the show can only stand it for a handful of episodes at a time.

The bit about helmet, even though I've seen it 10000 times, made me laugh when I read it.

    Welcome anaon.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I am sitting here, watching yet another episode of Dino Dan, as my 2 year old dances around the room yelling DINOSAUR!

I have to echo most of the previous comments about disliking this show. I went on an internet search today to see if it was intended for Dan to be hallucinating the dinosaurs or...if maybe Canada has such strange wildlife... Oh well.

I used to not be able to stand it at all but my daughter loves dinosaurs (ALOT. Funnily enough, she used to called them 'saurus' before refering to dinosaurs... her current favorite is the triceratops. Which she calls tee-tops) and in order to keep some manner of peace in the house I let her watch it now.

The rest of class is no better though- they're all stereotypes, ramped up to an annoying level. It's like they are all competing to be the MOST annoying.

I know, it's a kid show and maybe I am over thinking things... I understand not wanting to crush your child's dreams and so you go along with it but... there are limits. D:

I'm happy to have found this blog though- I'm totally going to read this now. Thanks muchly!

    ReplyDelete
  85. You're not over thinking it...it is just that annoying.

The Boy still watches it...we just started an episode for him a few minutes ago.

    Tee-Tops is pretty good.

Welcome aboard MrsKitty...don't be a stranger.

  86. I'm so glad I'm not alone in my hate of Dino Dan. I can't find the remote fast enough when that show comes on and that was before I even watched a full episode. The commercial alone was enough to put me off this kid, from his whiny voice to his know it all attitude about dinosaurs. I just knew there was something not right about that kid. My husband said, how can you hate this kid when you haven't watched the show. So I actually watched a couple episodes with my daughter who had absolutely no interest in it. I was validated in my irrational dislike of this kid. He's nuts. No one see these dinosaurs but him and honestly I don't think Doug sees them either. He's reacting to Dan acting out. This kid is seeing imaginary dinosaurs and hearing voices. If I was the mom, I wouldn't trust Dan around the dog because if she's not careful, he may serve up some Doug-ka-bobs when the voices tell him to.

Oh and the only other show that annoys me on Nick Jr. half as much is Peppa Pig. I can't stand that rude obnoxious little jerk. I don't believe in corporal punishment but that little girl/pig is in desperate need of a spanking.

    ReplyDelete
  87. You are not alone and you are right...Dougy's in danger.

Welcome to the party Eve. Stick around for a while.

  88. OMG!!!!! I'M HOME!!!!!!! phew. This is the only show my 2 year old daughter has me DVR. AND I HATE IT! I was laughing so very hard when I first read your blog. I would have found it sooner but my daughter just started liking it. I actually abhor mostly all of the shows on the NICK JR channel so every day and show are nails on a chalk board, but thankfully I like to keep busy and don't watch the crap with her.

One thing I have noticed on DD is that his "field guide" which he colored in himself...one, has no words and two, he refers to it for "facts".....huh? Come on at least give the kid a REAL book about "DINOS" to refer to. At least his "know-it-allness would have some basis......right......OH well at least my daughter is not pestering me for CANDY!!!!!! (it was just Halloween)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Welcome home Anon. We're glad to have...and thanks for adding a new complaint. Not only does he see dinosaurs everywhere...he sees "facts" about dinosaurs on every blank page.

  90. I just Googled , Dino Dan Is sick in the head and this forum Popped up (also just finished watching it ) . I have never laughed so hard reading this article !!!! I said that ( word for word ) To my wife ....LOL ... This KID is a total " Creep" , and Will be on the news soon , for drug induced community rage killings. Going back to a "very early comment , you said he has friends ????? Did you ever see that fat fruitcake , he calls a friend ? He's the fat kid from One Tree Hill who shot up the school , or that kids father??? And to answer the mysterious father question ???? ....Dan and him were playing catch in the park , and the father was shot by the fat kid ( by Dans design , so he could have his brother and mother all to himself) and eaten by the two of them ( in Dans mind , a canibalsauraus swallowed the father up ) . Episode coming soon !!! Now If there were more than the same 3 Dino's , it might be educating , but I'm completely sick of the damn Stegasaurus , T-Rex , that little egg eating bastard !!! Ughhhhh !!! Thanks for letting me vent !!.

    Welcome anon.

You would not believe the number of people that hit this site every day by googling the words...I hate Dino Dan.

    ReplyDelete
  94. First, thank you for this wonderful blog. It has reduced my anxiety level substantially knowing there are others out there who share my resentment for this ridiculous show which teaches children nothing. I got here by googling "why don't the dinosaurs eat Dino Dan" which brings me to my first point. I've read some posts claiming that dan teaches kids about "science" and educational tinformation about dinosaurs. I'm no paleontologist but I'm pretty sure that dinosaurs weren't neon colored and that the carnivores actually preyed on smaller animals (i.e.Dan). For a show so clearly based on the little annoying kid from the first Jurassic Park movie, you think he would instinctively run for his life with a T-Rex approaching. As far as the asperger's diagnosis goes, it would have to be a poor portrayal of someone on the spectrum as I don't think smugness is one of the symptoms.
Dora, Diego & the Fresh Beats I can handle (at least they're educational) but at the end of the day, my daughter enjoys the annoying little bastard so I'll suck it up for her. It's nice to have a place to vent s little. My friends, family & co-workers thank you for this blog.

  95. Thank you for stopping by.

  96. Fair dinkum, guys, do you take everything in life this seriously?

It is a young childrens show involving fantasy. To attempt to draw out most of the questionable concusions posted here is missing the point. Hate it if you must, but delusional, psychosis, schizophrenia and Asperger's syndrome? I'm sure the producers had nothing of the sort in mind. A lot of shows (adults and childrens) are unrealistic. Is there a serious problem with kids getting along with other or with supportive, attentive and encouraging adults? Which ones of you have not played fantasy/imaginative/pretend games with your children? Have you forgotten what you used to imagine as a child? Were the same conclusions drawn from Christopher Robin's stuffed toys coming to life in elaborate adventures? Are any of you old enough to remember H. R. Puffnstuf? Even as adults it is important for us to occasionally let go of reality and simply enjoy the pure fun of something. I wonder if it is some of the posters here who need the medical attention?

Even real life Palaeontologists can't observe dinosaur behaviour, they must use the facts they have then imagine it in exactly the same way Dan does.

Is it arrogant to talk about something you know well?

I see the actors playing the characters (charactures?), as they have been directed to, extremely well. The five main children all have wins and nominations for Young Artist Awards, many of them for Dino Dan. Have a look at some of their other performances, I suspect you'll be impressed, especially Jason Spevack (Dino Dan) who already has 34 other credits.

I'm not sure anyone knows the colour of dinosaurs.

I really enjoyed this show and want to see more. It was fun, cute and informative. It is low budget but so was the original series of Star Trek. I can see why people will dislike it strongly but ease up on the wild suggestions.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think you may be taking this a little too seriously.

If you read the entirety of the comments (granted a ridiculous request) you will see that spotting inaccuracies in the show and theories about why Dan see's dinosaurs is a running joke.

The kid is flipping annoying and this is a place for parents, who as far as I've read haven't stopped their kids from watching it, to come and vent about it....or crack jokes.

But I'm glad for the occasional contrary opinion.

    Welcome anon...make yourself at home.

  98. I did read ALL of the comments and had many good chuckles. Numurous comments were not said in humour and some of them are quite serious...several of the projected acts of violence are quite disturbing.

  99. Haha this is hilarious I never thought that much into it but I did always wonder why a kid would want to learn so much about an animal they had no idea ever existed because they haven't started school.. and why don't max and ruby have parents? Why is diego allowed to rescue wild animals and why do they all speak spanish? Are kidsyou going toon think thatI because theyI dont understand thembut it hasbut to beafford spanish? Haha justthis kidding But anyway reading through this I saw the attic scene with his mother mentioned but not the one where dan is at the beach and "dinos" keep ruining the sand castle and then help him build it while the others are conveniently in the bathroom.. and when they get back its done the dinos are gone and everyone is surprised it got done so fast. I agree with the comment about how the town must be run by dinos and there just aren't precautions haha

    1. I actually googled 'where is Dino Dan's dad' and I found this blog. This kid is worse than that itch you can't scratch. I don't think there is anything I can say that hasn't already been said. He's a smug little delusional turdlet that seems to fit dino's into EVERY situation! I'm sorry but NO naming a baby has nothing to do with naming a dinosaur... wtf...Can they show the episode when his family and friends are corralled into counseling? Or maybe and episode of intervention on A&E!??! As my daughter gets older, I certainly hope she never brings home anyone close to this or someone is going to have the worst day of their life.

      Delete
    2. I also used Google "where is Dino Dan's Dad"? and found this blog lol I was looking because I had watched my 1 yr old grandson yesterday morning, yes morning not late in the day as some have said. It comes on here around 10a.
During this time there were 3 back to back episodes on. I thought it was a bit odd and corny but first off kids shows seem that way to an adult sometimes and this was also my first viewings to be fair. My grandson could give or take the show, he really was just ready for a nap.
Then this morning his Mom tells me "oh Dino Dans on I hate that show" she starts telling me about the show and how weird it is, dad is no where and that basically something is wrong with this picture. So I thought I would do some search on this Dino Dan Character. As I Can see that's pretty much what everyone is saying here!
Is this based on a real person???( I read that comment above that said the "story" of the real boy and I also about spit my coffee on my keyboards lol)
I agree with everyone that has said if it's going to be on, add some people to the mix with reality. Even the Backyardigans call it a day with imaginary play. Although some of their adventures I do believe are a bit questionable...running from cops, stealing gold...just a few that that bugged me a bit. Even Rugrats remember them? It was imaginary with REAL life around them and that was a cartoon! Being it was the first time seeing it, I thought mom was just encouraging imagination and having some fun play time with the kid, not helping him stay out of reality. Now that I know more...I really don't like the idea of my grandson watching stuff like this. Learning about Dinosaurs is great I am not knocking that, but I don't know maybe add in a splash of reality in real life mode. Ya know time to play, time to go to school, time to SOCIALIZE with OTHERS . Maybe even learn from others instead of teaching everyone else. Maybe an actual teacher would be good on that show...oh wait there is one of those already hmmm
Anyway, make it a real adventure for every kid "outside" of this kids head. It makes it look alright to let a child just leave reality and not grow if something bad happens in their family. Come on, dysfunction is in everyone's family some how, but I don't thing we are suppose to help grow it.
I'm kinda scared if Dan ever realizes what happened to dinosaurs...could be bad. Just sayin..

P.S I sent a link to my daughter of this blog, she is also relieved to find out they aren't the only ones looking at his show with some questions!

  106. Dino Dan's kiss of death is so potent that it managed to render cast members of SCTV *and* Kids in the Hall completely unfunny.

And that squish-faced fat kid? Are you kidding me? Yeah, yeah, I realize that casting directors like to stick a goofy, chubster into most kids' shows for a little diversity. But, out of all the ugly fat kids in Canada, couldn't they have found ONE who could act? Aaaaaargh!

  110. My 3 (almost 4)year old loves this show! When I first watched the show with my boy, I figured with a title like "Dino Dan" and with the intro where he says the title with authority, it would be like a kid's version of Raiders Of The Lost Ark. Man, that couldn't be further from the truth. I'm an RN and saw right off the bat that this kid had something going on. At first I figured he was tripping on acid, but it never wears off. Now I'm sure it's schitzophrenia.

The episode where he was fishing with his dork uncle was awful. As someone who likes to fish, I wanted to poke my eyes out as not to see something that horrible again, and on the sandcastle one, someone would have beat his a$$ for knocking down the sandcastles.

Thank God they moved him to midnight (cst). Now all I have to do is convince my son that the dvr has some kind of virus. I'm also thankful my 5y/o daughter is not a fan.

P.S. I'm also glad I'm not the only one who sees that the Nick Jr line-up sucks. I will agree with previous posts though that Kiki from Fresh Beats is hot, and Marina is quite do-able also.

  111. I searched is Dino Dan on crack and this site came up. I didn't read all the comments so I don't know if someone else said it or not but the kid is obviously on something. Plus his "scientific" experiments are crap. You can't do an experiment on something that does not exist. He makes crap up. What was with the dinosaur that changed colors?
Oh and I agree with whoever said the kid's voice is annoying and his smug little attitude. I just want to smack that little smug look off his face.

  112. This is soooooo bad! I'm watching this show at 1:30am in the morning because my daughter is having one of her "sleeping adjustment spells" and I just happened to type Dino Dan is annoying into the browser. Low and behold there you are. Amazing!! This kid Dan is beyond delusional, and the fact that people take him seriously every time he says the word "Craptoposaurus" ( I know it's not a real dinosaur, but thats what it sounds like he is saying) kills me. Before I actually watched the show, I thought it was kind of like a Jurassic Park spinoff where the experiments have been let loose and are roaming around, then I realized they are a part of his imagination. I'm all for encouraging kids to use their minds to imagine and create things, But man.....this kid is one horn short of a triceratops.

  114. I.Hate.Dinosaur.Dan. Hate it. My kid was just crying "I want Dinosaur Dan!!" So now in one window he's watching Dino Dan and in the other I'm furiously typing how much I hate everything about the show.

Did you ever watch Bill Murray's Groundhog Day? The cynical weatherman repeats the same day every day for a thousand years and is the only one who knows it. That is how I feel watching Dinosaur Dan with my kid except instead of repeating the same day I'm repeating the same 30 minutes and there's no booze.

    ReplyDelete
  115. The only reason why sometimes I watch this show with my kids is because I hope one day he gets viciously dissmembered by the dinosaurs....then I will be like...what ya know, they were real...cool.

  116. Dino Dan sucks. Just because a show is spitting out some facts about dinosaurs does not mean we have to bow down and worship it and be grateful. Dan is weird. The way he speaks is odd and the way he dominates every damn conversation with his self centered obsession is insufferable. He has busted butter wedges for teeth and wears that stupid vest all the time and carries around his Dino Dan Field Guide...arrrgggg. I have to go now and find a site where I can bitch about Max and Ruby.

  117. I want to beat up Dino Dan - I am so glad I found this site! I hate Dino Dan but my boys (4 & 6) love it! Did we ever find out were his Dad is? And his mother is way too stupid to be a police officer. Thanks for letting me vent!

  118. Yes holy crap!! I was at the mall with some friends, I saw a Dino Dan DVD and started ranting to them about how much I hate it. My younger brother watches it whenever its on, sure now he knows more about dinosaurs, but Dan is bloody psychotic and everyone on that show pisses me off for going along with whatever he says. Just once I'd like someone to call him out on his bullshit. And did anyone else notice that they keep using the same 5 dinosaurs and Dan is always wearing yellow?

    ReplyDelete
  119. What drives me crazy is that he just like up and leaves class to go explore. Like what the hell is that?!? And what is up with the crazy ass art teacher? I am unfortunately in between episodes as we speak Bc my son is up sick right now. Also, the backpack, we get it: but seriously, he carries kitchen tongs in there to pick up dino bones, that his equally crazy pirate brother finds in the sandbox at school.
There's an episode that the mom can see the dinos, which means she's either just as big of a sociopath or one hell of an enabler. Uncle Jack seems to be the only one on this show with any common sense to get annoyed with Dino Dans holier than thou know it all attitude. And dont even fet me started on the OTHER dino freak girl in his class.
Ugh, this show makes me want to punch that kid in the head.

  120. This thread is great, thank you! I know that I'm not the only one who thinks that Dino Dan is insane. The writers of the show just don't make any sense, plus the bad acting all around just makes me want to punch something.

  121. I'm a mother of a 3 yr old and he loves Dino Dan. But I really really hate this show. It's annoying, Dan is annoying and his brother Trek is annoying. What kind of name is Trek? Was he conceived while Star Trek was on? It irks me that he is the only one that sees these giant creatures. They will be right outside his classroom window and no one else would see it but him. It's funny that one of his teachers look like he's annoyed at him when he starts ranting about dinosaurs. She looks like she wants to say "SHUT UP DAN". Lol oh yeah, what's up with the fat kid? He is so weird. He is in the same book with Dan and his brother. Another thing, does anyone notice that Dan always wears yellow clothing? So annoying. This show should be taken off the air. It's horrible. Oh another thing, are they the only class in that whole school? Lol

  122. Yes this show is annoying, I don't have enough time to list or write about everything about it that bothers me...but as if the show isn't annoying enough they play the same 5 episodes over and over. Everyone on here keeps saying that they use the same dinosaurs over and over....I think its just the episodes over and over. I don't like to condone bullying or violence BUT...realistically this kid would get beat up daily. No one is going to put up with his constant dino-babble. How is this show popular enough to stay on the air?!?!

  123. Three o'clock is the witching hour for me here in Texas.

Dan, you poor sick disturbed child. I thoroughly believe he suffers PTSD brought on by te elaborate pedophile ring his father started. His father is now serving multiple life sentences and his mother tells the children he's just on a never ending exploration trip. Digging up dinosaur bones is far more important than family I'm sure you can all agree..

Dino Dan has spiraled into the deep pits of his dark little mind and believes Dino's are everywhere! Nick Jrs explanation as of why no one else sees them is because they just missed them! Yeah bullshit, everyone plays along with his little fantasies because they know of his previous situation with his daddy and his Dino discovering paleontologist pals. Dan I suppose believes he can master the Dino's he just needs to learn enough about them and train them to destroy anyone whom crosses him! Which in reality would be him killing them all.

So yeah I would probably play along too with his scary ass. Dan is like Chuckie play nice or die! Heidi Ho!

  124. I googled Dino Dan is and got all the things I was thinking. If he was a kid in real life, he would be bullied to death and no kid would care about his ramblings. The teacher would have shut him up because she never gets to teach without him interrupting. The poor kids are being cheated out of a quality education thanks to dino dan. The only thing they will remember about that grade is the freak and his dinosaurs.

  131. I found this blog by searching for where is Dino Dan's dad? And I never laughed so hard at some of these comments. Very good observation on Dino Dan having ASD and getting fixated on one thing. However, there may be more hereditary mental issues as seen by the behavior of the grandmother. I'm assuming paternal since the mental disorders seem to come from that side. I watched an episode where they go to the zoo and grandma is timing with her watch each exhibit and giving a bunch of facts about each animal. It's cool that kids are learning about animals that actually exist, but why time each exhibit?? The mom seems normal but an enabler of some sort and covering for her father's absence which she knows the real story behind. And as for that one episode about her seeing a dinosaur in the attic. I don't think she actually saw it, but sensed there was something in the attic, probably a bat, and of course Dino Dan seized upon that opportunity to make up a story about it being a pterydactyl-is...ok, I get that they want to be specific and not use the term pterydactyl and make it seem like they're teaching the kids. But then they use the term 'dino' in the title and throughout the episodes instead of dinosaur.
It's certainly not the worst show on tv, but it's one of the most problematic full of incongruencies and annoying kids who all seem to be part of a special class.

I don't care what other shows or movies he's been in, he's still a condescending know it all turd. (Hey you can polish a turd, but its still a turd). I don't get his field guide either... so if I tell my kids that a chupacabra exists and they conduct imaginary experiments all while stealing my stuff and destroying school property, I should just turn a blind eye to it bc that dinosaur dweeb does it? Lmao man I never wanted to punch a kid in the face so bad! I never confine violence but that kid really pushes my buttons! I could be ok with that show if they let the semi-cool kid with the dark hair be dino dan but no they had to use that freckled face little **** be him. 134. You guys Dino Dan is using his imagination,to see stuff I'm 40 watching this show with my son it all good

    ReplyDelete
  135. Yeah, I am not alone!!!! My son likes to watch this show, and no show he watches annoys me like this one does. I feel a bit guilty because one time an ad for the show came on and not knowing my son was paying attention I said to my husband "I hate Dino Dan." Now my son says "Mom hates Dino Dan" when it comes on. This has not deterred his interest in the show (not that I would want it to). It seems that I keep running into the same episode where the teacher announces to the class she is pregnant. Dino Dan then proceeds to lecture about the three ways you can name a dinosaur, suggesting the teacher can use the methods to name her baby. This in and of itself is annoying but the "nails on the chalkboard" moment for me is when the kid who in my opinion is the most annoying character on the show yells out "you can name your baby belly" after Dino Dan explains about naming dinosaurs based upon where they came from......I think my 3 1/2 year old could speak more intelligently. Thanks for all the laughs and reassurances that I am not alone in my feelings.

  136. Dino Dan's Thought Process:
    Is it about dinosaurs?
If answer is yes, talk about dinosaurs.

If answer cannot be determined, DINOSAURS!

  137. I know it's wrong..... late at night, long after the kids go to bed.... I find myself watching episodes of Dino Dan all alone in the darkened room... hoping the wife wont wake up and catch me, or worse yet, one of the kids!

Why would I subject myself to this kind of self depreciating behavior.... because this show drives me crazy! I want really bad to understand! This is a kids show, I know it must not be that difficult to figure out! Somehow I am missing a simple key component that makes this all make sense.... You cannot have something be totally in the child's mind yet interact with the physical world, the implications of this premise is too sad to consider..... I'm even willing to suspend a lot of reality for any story line; ie the kid has a sort of "6th Sense" ability where he can see into a closely related alternate universe that exist parallel with our own.... but the writers do not go to any length to make this a viable alternative to sooth my troubled brow for not wanting this kid to be absolutely insane....worse they write into the story that he can talk to them and they understand him in some Dr. Doolittle sort of fashion, even knowing their own latin derived scientific classification as their name......uggghhh! The whole show screams that the boy is delusional and obsessive and then sets him up as the anticlimactic hero of the show and celebrates his illness as a triumph..... Worse it has turned me into an obsessive pseudo psycho analyst that is captivated by the train wreck writing style that this show is comprised of............help me................

  140. Thank you for making this blog. I've had to sit through many episodes of this, this... thing... with my cousins. I hate this show, for many reasons.

One, the lack of teacher/parent supervision. His teachers allow him to leave the class at any time WHILE THE TEACHER IS TALKING!!! I must say that, as a high school sophomore, I would get at least a detention; if not a trip to the principal's office. They also allow him to disrupt the class constantly, with facts about dinosaurs, that have NOTHING to do with the subject of the lesson, NO MATTER WHICH CLASS HE'S IN!!!!! His mother lets him gallivant around with his nine year old friends without an adult. What does your town not have pedophiles? HELLOOOOO!!!!!

Two, WHY DO THEY ALL PLAY ALONG!? The show is portrayed as if Dan is the ONLY one who can see the dinosaurs, yet they ALL act as if they see them too. i don't know about the rest of you, but if I suddenly started "seeing" extinct creatures, I would be admitted to a psych ward.

Three, as stated before dinosaurs are extinct! I cant help but think of the movie "the sixth sense" whenever I'm forced to watch this unfortunate mistake of drunken producers.

    "I see dead people..."

"Oh yeah? I see creatures that have been extinct for millions of years. Beat that!"

And don't get me started on the acting... I realize they're children, but SERIOUSLY?! they over act WAAAY too much. Like that fat kid, at first glance you'd think hes a comedic extra, but no after watching TWO FREAKIN' SEASONS I've come to the conclusion that, the producers realized just HOW annoying Dan was, and instead of saving us all of the urge of creating a mass mob and going all Frankenstein's monster on the show, had to put another character who was more annoying than Dan, to draw away from Dan's annoying-ness and just pure amount of suck, so that people would watch the show...

UGHHHH... I could go on for HOURS about how much I detest this show, but I'm running out of commas and run-on sentences. So I'll leave it here... for now...

  141. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but what the HELL is up with the race around the track one?!? He's like legitimately riding on a dinosaur around the track. And his friends show up like 30 seconds later. It makes me laugh my ass off every time.

Or my favorite one is when the bitch teacher hits the school bus, but manages to leave a goldfish cracker shaped dent on the emergency exit door of the bus. My son is 6, with autism, and watches the show just to point stuff out to me that doesn't make any sense.

  143. The conclusion I have come to about why all the other kids don't treat him like a freak is because he goes to a "special" school for those types of children. The chubby boy is either autistic or severely adhd. I'm going with autistic. The young black kid I think has some sort of emotion processing disorder. If you look at it this way, you start to understand why the teachers tolerate it and the other kids seem to not notice.

  154. My husband and I have to put up wth this horrible show because our son loves the colorful dinosaurs, but ever since we started watching it, we knew there were problems with this kid. In fact, the whole classroom is messed up. It looks like an inclusion class with a few special kids. That Cory fellow is not quite there. And when they showed the episode where Cory and his dad create a time machine, I was concerned for the kid. Dad was all into it.

It's always the same 5-7 dinosaurs. The little girl who fully supports Dan either feels sorry for him or she's crushing on him. And Dan's little brother is the only sane one in the show. Everything you said will come to light if you block out the dinosaurs and watch Dan talking to himself and gesturing to himself. This is such a sad show.

  155. This thread is never going to die until Dino Dan does, the show that is. I have a strong dislike to this show. It is true, the child has an annoying voice. I know it is just a show and to not take it seriously, however, this is an awful show. I can think of a number of things that could have made this show better. For instance, make them all actually live in existance of dinosaurs and everyone sees them. Another way to make it better, have a different child actor, that one is just horrible. We all seem to have a problem with the annoying, smart mouth child rattling on to everyone who will listen about dinosaurs. I have tried to watch it with my daughter because it is somewhat educational, but I always end up changing the channel to brain draining Spongebob because it is funny and she laughs...plus she is only 1 1/2 years old. If Dino Dan had catchier music too, maybe she would hang on a little longer. My 6 year old thinks something is wrong with Dino Dan too. And to the anonymous poster from a year ago in Spanish, yes it is a show for young children, but I watch every show with my children with them and yes it is a dreadful, horrible, terrible, pitiful, suck ass show.

  158. My two year old loves the “dinos”, but he’s TWO and, thankfully, he’s got better role models than these characters on the show.

I’ve got to admit that they even fooled me for a bit as all I saw in the short snippets that I’ve seen have been the dinosaurs (which are actually okay-despite being the products of LSD-infused cheese) and his easy on the eyes mom. Well, and the Canadian aspect, which we’re kind of used to here in Michigan.

So thanks for warning me about the lax attitudes towards parenting, discipline and mental illness. These are why my wife and I hated “Where the Wild Things Are” so much. Thankfully, I’ve got plenty of respectable dinosaur literature when he starts catching on.

Worst of all is the fact that Dino Dan seems to use subliminal messages to brainwash my childeren: my son even took over the dutch accent of the litlle stinker and that is not good at all: here in Belgium the show has a dutch voice-over and i have to admit that the people responsible for that, couldn't have done a better job: I checked with the original English version, the dutch voice over sickens me even more. That's what i call taking your job serious!

So to prevent Dino Dan succeeding in his hostile takeover of my family, we simply banned him from our screen.
